Oliver Lacey-Hall is currently Head of the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) Indonesia Office, which is also the primary liaison point in OCHA for engagement with the Association of South-East Asian Nations (ASEAN). He oversees OCHA’s engagement with the Government of Indonesia on disaster management and broader humanitarian issues and supports the work of humanitarian agencies resident in Indonesia. On the ASEAN portfolio he manages OCHA’s corporate relationship with the Association, and oversees the policy, capacity building and strategic engagement with ASEAN Member States, the ASEAN Secretariat and the ASEAN Humanitarian Assistance Coordinating Centre.

Prior to taking up his current post in July 2015 Oliver was OCHA’s Regional Director for Asia and the Pacific for five years, where he had oversight of OCHA’s operations across the region.

He has 25 years’ experience in humanitarian work, with an initial focus on refugee issues followed by coordination and communications work, mixed with project and programme management. Working with OCHA since 2000 previous positions include Deputy Director of OCHA’s Communications and Information Services Branch in New York, management of the UN Disaster Assessment and Coordination (UNDAC) Team for Asia Pacific, oversight of OCHA’s global information management team and initial development of OCHA’s surge capacity mechanisms.
