Jennifer Chan

Advisor
Dr. Jennifer Chan is an advisor to the Centre for Humanitarian Data at UNOCHA and previously helped launch the design, implementation, and execution of the Crisis Informatics program and NetHope followed by supporting the program with strategy and advising.

She currently supports humanitarian NGOs and UN agencies in the sector of humanitarian information management and crisis informatics. She was the co-author of Disaster 2.0. In addition to her work in informatics, Jennifer has deployed as a first responder to the 2010 Haiti Earthquake, Ethiopian Guj-Borena conflict, Hurricane Katrina, and Mozambique Floods. Her training, evaluation and funded research explore the impact of ICT in disasters. Dr. Chan is also a practicing emergency physician in Chicago and has academic positions and affiliations at Northwestern University and the Harvard Humanitarian Initiative.
